In the hilly and mountainous region of Toraja, among the peaceful and magnificent landscape it is hard not to feel the tremendous energy offered by its people. The daily life of Torajans which still practices native traditions in animal sacrifices , grandiose funeral rites, huge communal feast, shows that life is celebrated in every aspect, but most importantly death.
For Torajans, death is far from tragedy, it is simply a part of life thus it needs to be celebrated. Not to be mistaken to not feel sorrow or sadness, but through these rites of passage, these feelings that most of us would avoid are fully embraced as part of a journey. In Toraja to celebrate death is to celebrate life to the fullest.
