40 images that address the difficult relationship between Israel and Palestine, seen through the lens of one of the most talented young photographers on the international scene, Pietro Masturzo, winner of the World Press Photo Award in 2010, who will be present in La Spezia for the inauguration on Thursday November 23 at 18.00. “Facts on the ground” is a diplomatic expression commonly adopted to characterize the Israeli colonial strategy in the occupied Palestinian territories, which consists in creating “on the ground” a condition that makes the colonial process irreversible. Today, more than half a million Jewish settlers live beyond the “green line” in over one hundred official settlements and as many unauthorized outposts, but in fact tolerated, if not encouraged by the Israeli government. To explore the reality of the colonies from within, Pietro Masturzo decided to cross the defensive gates and barriers to describe the life and landscape of these places whose access is denied to Palestinians themselves.
