The Master in documentary reportage and photography, carried out in collaboration with the international agency Prospekt, is designed for those who already have basic photography techniques want to learn how to create and professionally finalize a documentary photographic project, through the learning of visual storytelling, the acquisition of a personal and effective language, the knowledge of the phases and of the working methodology. Research and planning, logistics and field work, the management of relationships with the subjects / places / institutions subject to and actors in the survey, the methods of obtaining funding useful for carrying out the own research, the relationship with customers whether they are newspapers, curators, social channels. With the acquisition of theoretical and technical notions and with the practical exercises indispensable for this purpose, the object of the course of study will be the development of one's own personal project, already started or new in the focus of research and interest. Hours of lessons dedicated to collective and individual review with teachers represent a valuable learning tool for the participants.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with authoritative professionals, winners of important awards in photojournalism, such as the World Press Photo, and learn from their teachers important notions about the language of documentary photography, but also and above all a working methodology that is indispensable in order to transform an idea in a photographic project; at the same time, students will be able to acquire a series of important contacts that will be useful to them when they finish the master, thanks also to the partnership with Prospekt which will promote and disseminate the projects of the participants on the official website of the collective. The purpose of the masterclass is to provide participants with their own personal project that can place them in the world of work.
The master will last 100 hours. Classes will take place on Saturdays and Sundays twice a month. The path foresees that at a certain point the lessons in the classroom are interrupted to allow the participants to use the notions learned up to that moment to work on their own project; after this break we return to the classroom with lectures, collective reviews, finalization of the work.
